A message from our new Area Registrar, Geoff Steer.
I hope the preparation of your teams is going well for the start of the season.
It has come to the time when you need to register your clubs, players, coaches etc.
If you have done this job before, then you will be familiar with the online system used by Basketball England. It is by far the best way to do it.
Below are links to the Clubs Secretary's guide to registration, and the revised charges in place this season.
There is also a link to the new requirements for registering coaches. This procedure may not be apparent from the guide which has not been updated. When you register your coaches, you will find the requirements different this season. All coaches are now required to have a DBS check and a Safeguarding Certificate. This evidence should be forwarded to the Safeguarding team at BE – safeguarding@basketballengland.co.uk. You will find that unless this has been done, then the submit button on the form will not operate and will come up with a message highlighting this point. I will do my best to answer any queries on this point.
There is advice in the attachment on where there are Safeguarding courses.
If you do not have a DBS (the old CRB check), then myself and Paul Christensen can help you with these. You will need to contact us so by email, so that we can set you up on the system used by Basketball England. You will get an email inviting you to create an account and give information plus selecting the documents you want to use to verify your identity. We then arrange an appointment with you to check the documentation. There is a charge of £11.40(an administration charge payable to the supplier) but the check is otherwise at no further cost to yourself, as long as you are a volunteer.
PAYMENT
The League starts on Friday 8 September. Your teams will need to be fully registered by then. The preferred payment method will be online into the Association Bank Account. Drop me an email if you need to know the details.
Please mark any payment with the name of your club, or if an individual, with your name please. I shall also require proof of payment which can be a screen print or something similar. I currently do not have viewing rights to the account. If I do not have this information, then I cannot process the registration forms until I have this information.
If you really do wish to pay by cheque, then please make it out to GBBA. Please email me for the address to which to send the cheque.
Warning: I shall not process the registration form until the cheque has cleared. It may not be possible to pay in to the bank for several days.
Please get in touch if you have any queries.
Regards
