Geoff noticed that I'd linked to the wrong registration guide in my earlier post. The one we need for local league is the Club Secretary’s guide to registration.

Format for Cup Competitions season 2018 / 2019

At the AGM a number of suggestions were put forward for changes and inclusion. Please see below the competition format following consideration of the suggestions and comments.

The top two from each group go into a semi final

A1 v B2
B1 v A2

Best of 5 games.

Winners go into the Dexter Dawson Charity Cup to be played on the 12th May, 2019.

All other teams enter into the John Llewellyn Handicap Plate.

This is a Round Robin format.

The top two compete in the John Llewellyn Plate final on the 12th May, 2019.

For the benefit of new teams entering the league, each player pays £2.00 per match, and this money is directed to the Charity Cup total. The GBBA web page shows running totals once the competition begins up to and including monies collected on the 12th May, 2019.

Team & Player Registrations

Basketball England’s membership portal is now open for the 2018/19 season. All clubs and members can now log on and begin registering for the upcoming season! The URL is http://legacy.basketballengland.co.uk/members/signin.aspx.

Team & Player Registrations Update

I shall not be process any registration forms until payment has been made. I need to see a proof of payment which can be a screen print or a screen grab. Please do not leave it to the last moment to submit your registrations.

Please remember to include your club fee which is £60.

There have been a number of times when unregistered players have participated in a game. They can be registered before the match, providing I am contacted by text or email before a match and I will endeavour to register the player if I am in a position to do so. The GBBA will take the sum from you deposit until the payment has been made. It will not always be possible to register the player before the game but I will endeavour to do my best.

Have you some spare time ?

If you are a Level 2 qualified basketball coach, and have some spare time on a Saturday morning, then Karen Coups at Rendcomb College near Cirencester would like to hear from you.

She is looking for a coach to run sessions for boys at the school. Sessions would run from 09:30 - 11:30 on Saturday mornings.

The range of skills would be beginner to intermediate.

This is a paid position, hourly rate dependent on coaching qualifications and experience.

Match Incident Form

There is a new form in the Downloads area, for use by referees to report an irregularity with a match, such as technical or disqualification fouls, the score sheet being signed under protest, and missing table equipment.

Level 2 Referee Course

The Gloucestershire School of Basketball is running a Level 2 referee course on the following days ...

Saturday October 6th, 14:00 - 17:00
Sunday October 14th, 09:00 - 13:30
Sunday 21st October, 09:00 - 13:30

The course will be held at Gloucestershire College, Llanthony Road, Gloucester. GL2 5JQ.

The cost is £120 for the course and the modules which cost £30 each can be purchased from BE.
