Dear Colleagues
Below is the formal notice of the AGM on 16 June. We hope to see you there, and would particularly welcome your thoughts on future development of the league and basketball in the area generally. This meeting needs to have a purpose which makes it worth us all giving up an evening to attend, so it should be about improving everyone’s basketball opportunities and experience. This in turn requires input from us all, as committee proposals will only succeed if they have the practical support of a majority of teams.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Annual General Meeting of the Gloucestershire Basketball League will take place at Tewkesbury Rugby Football Club on Monday 16 June at 19:00 prompt.
Each team currently in membership of the league is required to send one representative. No person may represent more than one team. Failure to be represented will result in a fine of £25 (loss of deposit).
A representative of any new team considering joining the league may attend by prior permission of the Chair.
Should a vote be required on any matter, each current team and each committee member shall be permitted one vote. No person may vote in more than one capacity.
The agenda will include the usual end of season reports, proposals for the 2014-15 season, and discussion on the development of basketball in the area.

I am delighted to inform you the Active Gloucestershire’s Coaching Bursary for 2014 is now open for applications.
The bursary will support an increase in the number of qualified coaches within the county as well as supporting those wishing to further their current qualification. The scheme will provide successful applicants, who undertake a National Governing Body of Sport (NGB) or UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) coaching qualification with a financial bursary in return for the delivery of coaching hours in Gloucestershire.
The funding is available to support coaches wishing to gain an England Basketball or UKCC level 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 coaching qualification. This is the first level of award in coaching basketball for working with players without supervision. It qualifies coaches to work in schools and clubs, and to coach teams up to England Basketball League level.
The course is mainly practical and will provide opportunities for those with limited playing experience to improve their skills. We aim to develop the skills and confidence required to lead a club or school basketball programme. Delivery of the sessions will take the current strengths of the candidates (for example, players, teachers, coaches of another sport) into account.
Sessions will be held from 09:00 through until 17:00 on Saturday 31st May, Sunday 22 June and Sunday 29 June.
The assessment day is Saturday 12th July, from 09:00 until 15:00.
The Saturday seesions will be held at Cirencester Deer Park School, Stroud Road, Cirencester, GL71XB, the Sunday sessions at Gloucestershire College, Llanthony Road, Gloucester, GL25JQ.
