Second Charity

Following the recent committee meeting we wish to confirm the decision of the committee to support CLIC Sargent as our second charity to benefit from your support and donations throughout the Dexter Dawson Charity Cup Competition.

When cancer strikes young lives, CLIC Sargent limits the damage this causes beyond their health.

This Charity was nominated by Cass Castello and his wife Nicki, who sadly lost their young daughter Lauren to childhood cancer. Cass states this is a local charity that has gone national. CLIC was founded in 1976 (Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood). In 2005 CLIC merged with Sargent Cancer Care for Children.

Through the Charity families are given both emotional and clinical support via the CLIC nursing team and the use of the CLIC Sargent “Homes from Home” located near most of the specialist children’s cancer centres throughout the UK.

Cass states that with the help of the charity and their nurse Jayne, he Lauren and Nicki were able to focus entirely on being together, with the confidence of being utterly supported and cared for. For Lauren, her nurse Jayne enabled her to have as normal a life as possible, which Cass believes is a common desire for children with cancer.

Therefore funds raised through the competition and on finals day activity will be shared between www.cotsfortots.org.uk, Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St. Michael's Hospital, Bristol and www.clicsargent.org.uk

I am sure you will agree two worthwhile centres supporting the most vulnerable and their families.
