GBL Disciplinary Issue

A question arose recently over whether we needed to make a rule change to cover the situation where a player is disqualified for two technical and/or unsportsmanlike fouls.

Having looked at Rule 9f, I have concluded that no change in rule is required, but the following might help clarify the situation:

• A technical foul results in 3 points. There is no points penalty for unsportsmanlike fouls.
• A disqualifying foul (i.e. a single act which justifies disqualification) attracts 5 points. Automatic disqualification as a result of receiving 2 technical or unsportsmanlike fouls carries no additional points penalty, although the player is still automatically suspended from his team’s next match.

I hope that clarifies the matter (but it won’t happen too often!)
