126 Hartpury Basketball 42 - 91 Charlton Kings Dear All,
Its that time again.
Following my Cup Competition circulation I thought it was worth reminding you what the monies raised will be going towards and why the competition was started.
Monies raised will go directly to the Cots for Tots Charity ( see link). We are able to determine our preference at to what area of the Charity the money will be directed to.
www.facebook.com/CotsForTotsAppeal/videos/1832139406817187/
We have chosen the Neo Natal Special Baby Care Unit at St Margaret's Hospital in Bristol, who look after seriously ill new born babies not only from the Bristol area but from Gloucestershire and Wales.
Those of you who have been involved in the competition previously will have met Dexter, who comes along and presents the Cup Trophy each year, and is only able to do so thanks to the magnificent effort of the specially trained crew and specially equipped ambulance which was dispatched from Bristol to Gloucester to transport him to St Margaret's.
The medical team and ambulance were able to start life changing treatment required within 6 hours of his resuscitation, which along with pioneering gas and cooling treatment slowed the onset of brain damage and indeed repaired damage done. His mummy and daddy were given accommodation to be near to him and were wholeheartedly supported by staff on an hour to hour day to day basis until he was discharged. He was then followed up on a regular basis by the research team and eventually given the all clear and discharged from their care, his parents now only have to report on an annual basis to ensure he has reached the key milestones required of any child of his age.
And that's only one story of the many thousands to be told in one area of medicine and research covered by the unit.
We start of this year's challenge with £120.00, the webpage will show running totals as games are played and monies donated by teams ( my previous set out the amount teams should be donating as a minimum). Referees, although there is no requirement on them to do so have also previously added to the fund, for which we are most grateful.
A reminder that the referee is asked to ensure that the handing over of charity donations is done at the pre-game meeting, this should go to the referee who should arrange for the funds to be paid into the GBBA account and clearly marked Charity donation, a text or email message should be sent to me indicating the amount to be attributed to the Charity for records to be maintained and web information to be updated.
Once again thank the committee thanks you for your continued effort and support . We will be finalising arrangements for the day when we meet in January.

Dear All
Please see below information relating to this years competition which is due to commence this month.
In addition a few general updates:
Congratulations to the 5 GBBA sponsored candidates on the recent Level 2 referees course, all have successfully passed the theory and one of the 3 required practical assessments. I gather the course in its entirety has been a great success and enjoyed by those participating.
The referee/coach catch up and discussion group meeting has been scheduled for the 22nd of January, 19:30 at Gloucester College. I shall be circulating a questionnaire early next month to gather items referees and coaches may wish to add to the programme.
Richard Stokes will run the referee session and Danny James the Coach session with both groups coming together to discuss/share views.
The GBBA will be sponsoring one coach ( only one submission received) who will attend the Level 2 coaching course due to run at Gloucester College during December and January.
Hartpury have now played their first home game at Hartpury College, details are on the web page. Their new kit has arrived and they will play in Red. The College complex is large and they have an old and new sports complex, both of which will host games. Assume the games will be at the new facility unless you are notified otherwise.
Can I just remind teams, particularly those with electronic score boards and sounding devices, of the need to have a back up set of hand held equipment which should include, two sounding devices, a game clock and a time out clock (neither of which should be mobile phones). We have seen an increase in technical failures with no suitable alternative back up available.
Please note that one matter has been dealt with by the disciplinary officer and a second is being considered following after match interaction between players and officials in two separate incidents.
Players and coaches should be aware that whilst the referees cannot take any action after the final whistle, they can, and are encourage to, provide incident reports. Incident reports which indicate breaches of the Code of Conduct and Ethics as previously circulated, will in all cases be considered by the Disciplinary Officer, this will include any incidents of disrespecting table officials during or after the game.
We are pleased to welcome UOG Raiders into the Charity Cup Competition.
The league tables are showing some interesting results, which makes for an interesting season, similarly the MVP nominations are showing an increased number of players within teams being nominated, again all good.
When I have caught up with myself and the scoresheets I will ask Dave to publish the free throw and 3 pts table.
Kind Regards
Issy
